BEST SWIMMING POOLS GAMES
Hey, pool freaks, summer is here, and summers without swimming pools is like buttered popcorn without butter. Swimming is not the only way to enjoy a pool. Various games will increase your enjoyment and aid in relaxation.
Try exploring the following games with your partner and kids:
INVISI-BOTTLE (for adults): Separate everyone into two teams and line them up on the opposite ends of the pool facing the water. Take a transparent water bottle and fill it with pool water and try to use a white cap, or a cap of the same colour as the pool floor tiles. One player will toss the bottle in the water. After hearing the splash, all players will jump in and try to find the bottle. The clear bottle blends in and become almost invisible on the bottom of the pool. It is really amazing and challenging.
FROZEN T-SHIRT CONTEST (for kids and adults) Dunk two T-shirts in the water and freeze for two to three days. On game day, take the shirts out and separate your friends into two groups. Each group races to thaw the shirt in order to put it on a teammate. You can use anything in the yard to thaw it out: hose, pool, slam it on the pavement, use your hands, breathe on it, etc. Every 15 seconds you switch the person thawing the shirt. Have someone shout out "switch" every 15 seconds. The first team to thaw it and put it on one of their teammates wins.
NUMBERS CRUNCH (for kids): Number the ping pong balls and separate the players into two groups. Then call the number of ping pong balls. Whichever group collects the maximum number of balls will be the winner.
WATER HOOPS (for Kids and adults): You can play it in two different ways: half court or full court. For half court, you need a single hoop, and for full court two hoops are required. You can buy a poolside basketball hoop or improvise with a plastic can.
MERMAID RACES (for adults and teens): Hold your breath and see who can swim the longest underwater. You can play this with groups or with your partners.
ATOMIC WHIRLPOOL (for adults and teens): Everyone starts moving slowly around in a circle, then move faster and faster until a whirlpool is created and you can float on it.
MARCO POLO (for kids and adults): Marco Polo is a simple game that can be played with two or more players. To play, choose one player to be “it.” That person closes his or her eyes, or is blindfolded, and counts to a certain number (you pick). While the “it” person counts, the other players scatter around in the pool. When the count is over, the “it” player tries to tag the other players, using only the sound of their voices to find them. The “it” player calls out “Marco,” and the other players call out “Polo.” When the “it” player tags another, that player becomes the “it” person and the game starts over again.
